Victa V Force 18’ cordless lawn mower review

The Victa V Force range is made up of six cordless products, this is a review on the V Force 18inch mower.

The Victa V Force 18’ mower is a rebadged Green Works product. It even has the green works logo on the bottom of the electric motor. To say it’s designed in Australia is a little misleading unless by design they mean changing the colour of the product.

The kit comes with one battery and one charger. The Victa V Force battery is a 40-Volt 4 Amp-Hour Lithium Ion unit and will last on average 20-25minutes when used with the Victa V Force mower. My recommendation would be to purchase another Victa V Force product so you can have another battery. The battery alone is $199 and charger $89 so for another $111 you could buy the Victa V Force blower which includes the battery and charger in the box.

The battery is a solid and compact unit, has an outer case consisting of a hard plastic and rubbery plastic that is easy to grip when installing and removing the battery. On the front is a 4 bar battery indicator which is handy when having to sort through which ones are fully charged and ready to go.

The charger is compact and charges the 4Amp-Hour battery in approximately 2 hours which is a little slow but if you have multiple batteries then is not such a problem.

Now on to the mower, the Victa V Force 18 mower’ is the only battery electric mower featuring a steel chassis at the time of writing this review and was the deciding factor when purchasing this product over its plastic competitors. Two swing back blades deliver a clean cut while helping to protect the motor should the blades strike or wedge any hard objects. Blades can be replaced with similar Victa branded blades although not exactly the same as the original that came installed.

Height adjustment mechanism is all steel and built extremely sturdy. Was able to cut out an extra notch to allow another height setting as seen in the image below.

Two negatives for the Victa V Force mower are the small, narrow wheels making the mower sink into some softer type grasses and the fabric catcher bag which over time is starting to show signs of wear. At 19.9kg with the battery installed, it’s light and easy to handle, making it a pleasure to use over extended periods of time. Transportation is made simple as it can be folded down making it compact enough to fit comfortably in a hatchback, wagon or larger sedan.

At $699AUD, the price is a little steep, but when considering the savings in servicing, fuel, oil, spark plugs and filters, it starts to make financial sense.

Overall the Victa V Force 18’ mower is a reliable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional petrol powered mowers. If you’re in the market for a battery electric mower you might want to consider a more powerful model.
